How To Renovate a Restaurant

July 15, 2020

Restaurants can quickly become outdated, and when they do, public interest drops drastically. If you are lucky, you can stumble upon a winning design scheme that is timeless, but more often than not, your previous renovation is outdated today, and it’s time to give it a much-needed facelift.

Save your money for the big fix-it projects, and be clever when updating the aesthetic to renovate your restaurant as effectively as possible:

Fix the Structural Issues

Like any property, you are going to want to address any areas that might be an issue before you worry about the aesthetics. A leaking roof is going to continue to leak no matter how much you do the place up, after all.

A Roof Replacement

A leaking roof in a restaurant is a nightmare because even though you can still technically serve customers in this environment by sectioning off leaking areas, it is not a long-term solution. There are also risks to the electrics and the quality of the food. If you see a leak or a drop of water, then you will need commercial roof repair immediately, from specialists who know how to repair, replace, and maintain commercial rooves.

Updated Kitchen

Work with your cooks to figure out what is starting to wear down in the kitchen and what new tools they are aware of that will help them do their job better. Every kitchen renovation should, at the very least, consider the kitchen and what you can do to renovate it for the betterment of your service and your cook’s health.

Structural Areas of Wear and Tear

Go around and make a note of any chips, cracks, tears, or signs of wear in your restaurant. If you are going to remove it anyway in the renovation, don’t worry about it. If there is one tile that is cracked, get that fixed. Once done, you will have an excellent blank slate for your renovations.

Improve the Aesthetics and Vibe

It is now finally time to work on updating the look of the restaurant.

A Facelift

You want your restaurant to walk the fine line between unique and fashionable. To find that line, you will want to start with being firm about who you are as a restaurant, and then working to source ideas that help highlight that. Narrow it down to your favorites and the most timeless updates, and get started,

A New Floorplan

To really change the feel of your restaurant, you are going to want to change the floorplan up when giving it a facelift. It can be hard to do if you have a lot of booths, but tables are easy to move around and reconfigure. Think about how customers engage with the space so that you can design a new floorplan more organically.

Consider the Full Experience

It isn’t just about how it looks, it’s about the experience. If you want your place to be the ultimate dinner date location where couples actively want to visit to propose to each other, then you are going to want to work on building a very intimate environment. If you wish to have a family-friendly establishment, the experience will be vastly different. With more space or booths for parents to better care for their children.

Consider the experience that you want to offer and make that the icing on top for your design. With all that, you will have to renovate your restaurant.
