7 Invaluable Photography Tips

September 13, 2019

If you’d love to make the most of your digital camera, continue reading to discover 7 invaluable photography tips which will take your photos to the next level.

7 Invaluable Photography Tips:

1. Invest in purchasing a fully adjustable tripod

If you don’t have a particularly steady hand, you may want to consider investing in a fully adjustable, portable tripod. Which you’ll be able to use to take steady, clear photos. Alternatively, if you’re a bit of a jet-setter, you may be able to pick up a fold up tripod which can easily fit in a day pack. This is a particularly great idea if you enjoy taking photos of nature.

2. Don’t use your camera’s flash to take photos indoors

While you may routinely use your camera’s flash in order to take photos indoors, doing so will give your photos an unnaturally harsh look. Especially if you use flash to take photos of individuals at night, in an indoor setting. Instead make an effort to learn how to change your camera’s shutter speed in order to take clear, indoor photos.

3. Make sure that you practice the rule of thirds

If you’ve previously taken a photography course or class, you’ll be familiar with the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds suggests that in order to take aesthetically pleasing you should split your view finder up into a 3×3 grid. Aim to have the focal point of your photo in the middle of your 3×3 frame, so that individuals immediately look to your photo’s desired focal point.

4. Use plain solid backgrounds in order to take professional portraits

If you enjoy taking portraits of individuals, it’s well worth opting to use plain, solid backgrounds for your portraits. As an example, you may want to ask your subject to stand infant of a plain white or grey wall. Instead of having your subject stand in-front of a bright wall or building. As you want your camera to focus on your subject, not on the background behind them.

5. Sign up for a professional photography course

Many individuals make the mistake of investing in thousands of dollars of camera equipment such as new lenses, before they have the knowledge to make the most of their new equipment. Instead, if you’re looking to become a more skilled photography and to produce high quality shots, you’re much better off signing up to take part in a professional photography course.

Also make sure to research the teacher running a photography course, which you’re interested in, before parting with your hard earned money. As you want to ensure that they are well qualified to teach you everything that you need to know about digital photography.

6. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes

The best way to become a great photographer is to practice, practice, practice. As you’ll be able to learn from your mistakes.

7. Take photographs during the golden hour

The golden hour takes place one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset and provides the best possible lighting for beautiful, natural photos.

If you follow the 7 photography tips listed above, you should notice a huge difference in the quality of your new photos compared to your old photos.
