Things To Do in Ho Chi Min City

June 9, 2021

When you travel around Southeast Asia, or even just inside of Vietnam, you should visit Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. Vietnam is a unique place in the Indochina Peninsula. Vietnam is a determined country that has recovered from the American war and is now a famous tourist centre and an attractive location for expats. Vietnam has beautiful weather, dramatic scenery, and world-famous cuisine. Another appeal of Vietnam is the mix of old-world culture, the influence of the French, and increasingly modern infrastructure. And in the south of Vietnam, the place to be in Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Great Hotels: Ho Chi Minh City has a vibrant city core by day that changes at dark to a distinctive night scene that can suit any taste, from quiet jazz bars to more cosmopolitan social settings like the Sky Bar In Saigon. At the heart of the scene are the grand hotels that bring the country’s charm while providing modern conveniences. You can find all you require in the way of spas and relaxing places to meet, swim, or set out to see the sights.
  • Binh Tay Market: This market has been around since the 1800s and is a beautiful remnant of the colonial era. It is still in use today, primarily a fresh market, but the traveler will find many exciting sites and photo opportunities of authentic Vietnamese culture. There lots of places to eat or enjoy an iconic Vietnamese coffee. And this is also an excellent place to get your souvenirs.
  • Cu Chi Tunnels: Vietnam knows that it is most famous in the world for the war in which they won their independence from colonial powers. They are proud of their history, and they love to show it off. The Cu Chi tunnels are part of the extensive tunnel system that the North used to slip past the American forces and were instrumental in their guerilla warfare campaigns. Today you can visit the tunnels and even crawl inside them to get an idea of what the soldiers went through in the war.
  • Jade Emperor Pagoda: The ancient roots of Vietnam are filled with influence from other cultures. Probably the most substantial influence was from the Buddhists. Despite institutional Communism, there is still a strong Buddhist heritage in Vietnam. The Jade Emperor Pagoda is a remnant of another tradition, Taoism, from China, but the pagoda now observes Buddhist tradition. It is a beautiful example of far eastern mysticism and architecture and a great place for photography.

Other places to go in South Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City are. The Bitexco Sky Deck and Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Reunification Palace, and the War Remnants Museum. There are also many other things to see, including getting up early and watching the city come to life with a coffee and Croque Monsieur. Once you get used to crossing the street, you will find many of your favourite locations in the friendly and unique city.
